Ride Along the Red Sea Coast on a Beach Quad Bike in Hurghada
Hurghada Quad Biking — Desert & Coastal Trails, Sunset Departures, Hotel Transfers & All Safety Equipment Included

Beach quad biking in Hurghada combines two of Egypt's most striking landscapes into a single three-hour ride: the open desert that begins minutes from the resort strip, and the Red Sea coastline where sand meets water in late-afternoon light. It's one of the most booked excursions in Hurghada — no prior riding experience needed, suitable for a wide age range, and a different pace from a day at the pool. Sun Touristik's Hurghada quad bike hire includes hotel transfers from all major Hurghada, El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh, Makadi Bay, and Soma Bay resorts, full safety equipment, a guide throughout, and a sunset departure option. Prices start from €30 per adult, with no additional charges on the inclusions listed below.

Description
Hurghada's desert begins almost the moment you leave the resort zone. Within minutes of departure from your hotel, the road gives way to open terrain — flat, dusty, rust-coloured ground stretching toward a horizon with no hotels, no traffic, and no crowds. This is where the quad biking ride starts, and the contrast with the poolside world is immediate. The route used for Sun Touristik's beach quad biking tour covers two distinct environments. The first section is a 50-kilometer desert trail through the Eastern Desert — wide, hard-packed trails where guides set a pace appropriate to the group. Beginners ride steadily, while more confident riders can push harder on the open stretches. The terrain isn't technically difficult, but it is real off-road riding: you feel the ground and the vibration of the quad in a way a paved track never gives you. The second section reaches the Red Sea coastline after approximately 45–50 kilometers of desert riding, where you'll enjoy a short 5-minute ride along the shoreline itself — close enough that you can feel the sea breeze and hear the waves. This coastal stretch is what most guests remember afterward — open water on one side, desert behind, and the quad under your hands. The full tour runs approximately three hours at the site, including the briefing, the ride, and the return; total time away from your hotel is typically three to four hours once round-trip transfer is included. It's one of the more time-efficient adventure excursions from Hurghada — long enough to feel like a real experience, short enough that most guests are still back in time for dinner. Minimum age is six. Children ride as a passenger with an adult on the same quad; riders from sixteen can ride solo. All safety equipment — helmet, goggles, gloves — is provided and fitted before departure. Groups stay small: this isn't a thirty-quad convoy. Your guide communicates in English throughout, sets the pace for the group, and manages stops for photos or rest.
Who Is Hurghada Beach Quad Biking Right For?
- First-Time Quad Riders — The Hurghada beach quad biking tour is designed from the ground up for riders who have never sat on a quad before. The pre-ride briefing covers every control clearly, the guide sets a pace that allows beginners to build confidence incrementally, and the terrain — firm desert floor rather than deep sand or steep gradients — is genuinely forgiving for inexperienced riders. Most guests who arrive uncertain are riding comfortably within the first ten minutes. The guide remains in the group throughout, not ahead of it.
- Families with Children — Children from age six can participate, riding with an adult on a shared quad. Older children and teenagers from age sixteen can ride solo. The 50 km desert route is designed to be engaging without being technically intimidating, and the short 5-minute beach finish gives the ride enough variety to hold children's attention across the full three hours. The guide adjusts pace to the slowest or youngest rider in the group — no child is rushed or left behind.
- Adventure Seekers Who Want More Than a Pool Day — Hurghada's resort strip is excellent, but after two or three days of beach and pool, the pull of the desert is real. The beach quad biking tour is the most direct, most kinetic way to access the landscape that exists a few kilometres from every hotel in the city — the open Eastern Desert that begins just past the resort boundary and extends, essentially unbroken, toward the Nile Valley. If you want to feel like you've actually been somewhere in Egypt beyond the resort, this is the three-hour answer.
- Photographers and Sunset Chasers — The combination of the Eastern Desert at golden hour and the Red Sea shoreline at sunset produces strong, consistent light for photography. If you shoot landscape or travel photos, the sunset departure gives you open desert, an empty coastline, and low-angle light that's hard to reach on foot or by taxi. The mid-route viewpoint stop and the coastal stop are both structured around giving you time with a camera.
- Couples Looking for an Active Alternative to Boat Trips — Hurghada's island and snorkeling tours are the dominant excursion category, and they are excellent. But for couples who want something physically different — active, on land, fast-paced, with a landscape component that snorkeling cannot match — the sunset quad biking tour offers a clearly different kind of experience. Riding 50 km through the desert and finishing with a beach ride at the end of a late afternoon is a shared experience that's different from anything else in Hurghada's excursion lineup.
- Guests on Short Stays or Tight Schedules — A three-hour tour that includes hotel pickup and drop-off fits into an afternoon without consuming an entire day. For guests on four or five-night stays who want to do multiple excursions, quad biking is one of the more time-efficient land adventures available — it delivers a complete experience without requiring the eight-hour commitment of a Cairo or Luxor day trip.
Hurghada Quad Biking Prices — What Does Beach Quad Biking Cost in 2026?
Hurghada quad biking prices vary depending on the operator, the route length, the inclusion of hotel transfers, and whether the tour is a standalone quad ride or part of a broader safari package. Here is an accurate breakdown of what you can expect to pay in 2026, and what each price tier typically includes.
Standard Beach Quad Biking Tour (Standalone Ride)
The standard three-hour beach quad biking tour from Hurghada — covering a 50 km desert trail and a short 5-minute Red Sea shoreline ride — is priced from €30 per adult and €15 per child with Sun Touristik. This price includes the guided tour, all standard safety equipment (helmet, goggles, gloves), and hotel pickup and drop-off from Hurghada city resorts. A transfer surcharge may apply for pickup from El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh, Makadi Bay, Soma Bay, or other areas outside central Hurghada — this will be confirmed at the time of booking. Optional extras such as scarf/shemagh rental (€2.50) and additional safety goggles (€2.50) are available at the quad base. Sunset departure is available at no extra cost.
What Affects the Price
Route length is the primary variable: a one-hour desert-only ride is cheaper than a three-hour beach-and-desert combination, but the beach section — the Red Sea shoreline component — is what distinguishes the better tours from basic desert loops. The 50 km desert trail gives you a serious desert experience before you even see the sea, making the coastal 5-minute ride feel like a well-earned reward. Transfer logistics affect price across the market: some operators charge extra for pickup from outlying areas, so it's worth confirming what's included before booking. Group type also matters: shared small-group tours are priced at the standard rate; private bookings for a couple or family group may be priced slightly higher per person but offer the flexibility of a dedicated departure time and a guide entirely to your group.
What to Be Cautious About
Tours advertised at very low prices (below €15 per person) typically exclude hotel transfers, use older or poorly maintained equipment, or operate in large convoy groups of 20 to 30 quads where the guide cannot manage pace or safety effectively. The quality of the experience drops sharply in a large convoy — you spend as much time eating dust from the quad in front as you do riding. Sun Touristik keeps group sizes small specifically to avoid this.
Safari Package Pricing
If you want to extend the quad biking into a longer desert safari experience — including a traditional Bedouin camp stop, camel riding, or horse riding — combined safari packages are available at a higher price point. These are separate tours and are outlined in the comparison section below.
Is Hurghada Quad Biking Good Value?
At €30 per adult for a three-hour guided ride covering a 50 km desert trail plus a coastal beach finish, beach quad biking in Hurghada is competitively priced against other adventure excursions in the area. For comparison: a single-entry water park in Hurghada costs a similar amount with a fraction of the active experience. A sunset camel ride covers less ground in more time. A desert safari by jeep puts you in the back seat rather than in control of the machine.
What Is the Route? Desert Trails, Coastal Tracks & the Red Sea Shore
The beach quad biking route from Hurghada is designed around two distinct environments, and understanding the terrain in advance helps you get more from the ride — both physically and photographically.
The Desert Section — 50 Kilometers of Open Terrain
The ride begins in the open Eastern Desert, on a network of established off-road trails that run inland from the Hurghada coastal strip. Over the course of approximately 50 kilometers, you'll traverse the actual desert floor — not deep sand, which would make quad control difficult for beginners, but the firm, corrugated surface typical of the Arabian Desert at this elevation. The trails are wide enough for quads to ride in single file with space between them, which means your guide can adjust pace per individual rather than setting a single slow speed for the entire group. Low ridges, rocky outcrops, and flat open plains give the desert section a changing character as the ride progresses. At full pace on the open sections, the speed feels genuinely fast; on the rockier sections, the pace drops and the focus shifts to reading the ground ahead. Most riders find the desert section takes about twenty minutes to settle into — the first ten minutes are pure orientation as you get used to the controls, after which most people begin to actually feel the terrain and adjust instinctively.
The Mid-Route Stop
Approximately halfway through the 50 km desert section, the guide brings the group to a stop at a viewpoint — typically a low ridge or elevated flat with an unobstructed view across the desert in the direction of the Hurghada mountains to the east. This is a water break and photo stop, and it's worth turning the engine off for a moment: the desert is quiet there, away from the resort noise, and most guests say it's worth pausing for rather than rushing on to the next stop.
The Coastal Section — Your 5-Minute Beach Reward
The transition from the 50 km desert interior to the Red Sea shoreline is a genuine moment of reveal — the moment the water comes into view ahead, blue against the pale desert floor, is a consistent highlight that guests mention in feedback. The coastal section includes a short, exhilarating 5-minute ride along the shoreline itself, close enough to the water that spray is possible in certain wind conditions, before the group stops at a beach point for photographs and a rest. This is the section most guests photograph most heavily and the section that gives the tour its name. The beach is undeveloped — no facilities, no other tourists on most days — which is what sets it apart from anything accessible on foot from a resort hotel.
The Return
The return route retraces the coastal track and cuts back through the desert on a slightly different line, giving the ride a sense of a complete circuit rather than a simple out-and-back. Total riding distance is approximately 50 km each way (100 km round trip); with the briefing, equipment fitting, and the mid-route and coastal stops, the full experience runs close to three hours before the return transfer.
Sunset Quad Biking Hurghada — Why the Late Afternoon Departure Is Worth It
Of all the decisions you make when booking a Hurghada quad biking tour, the one that makes the biggest difference to the experience is departure time. Afternoon departures are good. Sunset departures are something else entirely.
The Light
The Eastern Desert surrounding Hurghada sits at a latitude and in an atmospheric environment that produces intense sunset colour. Low humidity and little cloud cover mean the sun's arc through the final forty minutes before it drops below the desert horizon is mostly unobscured. The light turns from white to gold around 45 minutes before sunset, shifts into amber and copper at 20 minutes, and reaches its deepest colour — the desert red the region is known for — in the final five minutes. On the quad, riding through this light — the desert floor catching colour beneath your wheels, the Red Sea changing shade ahead of you — looks noticeably different from the same ride at midday.
The Temperature
Afternoon quad biking in Hurghada in the summer months (June to September) is hot. Air temperatures regularly exceed 38°C, and the desert surface — which absorbs heat throughout the day — radiates additional warmth upward. The sunset departure, leaving at approximately 15:30–16:00, means the hottest part of the day is already past when you arrive at the base. Riding in 32–34°C with a sea breeze is far more comfortable than riding at midday. In winter months (November to February), the sunset departure adds a different kind of comfort: the air cools rapidly after 16:00, and the ride back in the early evening — with temperatures around 20–22°C — is mild and pleasant.
The Coastal Reward
The sunset timing is built around the coastal stop at the Red Sea shoreline. After riding 50 kilometers through the desert, arriving at the beach as the sun approaches the horizon makes the 5-minute shoreline ride and the subsequent 20–30 minute beach stop genuinely memorable. The water at this hour picks up colours it doesn't show at midday: the surface becomes a mix of gold, orange, copper, and deep turquoise depending on depth and the angle of the light. This is the point on the route where most guests spend the most time with a camera. It's also one of the quietest, least-populated stretches of Red Sea coastline accessible on a Hurghada excursion — no resort infrastructure, no other tours, just the desert, the sea, and the light.
Practical Booking Note
Sunset departure slots fill significantly faster than afternoon departures, particularly between October and April when the European tourist season is at its peak. If you want the sunset option, booking two to three days in advance is recommended. Same-day or next-day availability for sunset slots exists but is not guaranteed.
Hurghada Quad Bike Hire vs Safari Package — What's the Difference?
Travellers researching quad biking in Hurghada frequently encounter two distinct product types: standalone quad bike hire (or a guided quad riding tour) and a broader desert safari package that includes quad biking as one of several components. Understanding the difference matters both for setting expectations and for choosing the right option for your group.
The Standalone Beach Quad Biking Tour
This is the focused, three-hour guided ride described throughout this page. You arrive, you ride a 50 km desert trail, you enjoy a 5-minute beach ride, you return. The experience centres entirely on the quad itself — the terrain, the distance, the route, the light, the physical sensation of riding. It is the right choice for: travellers who want quad biking specifically and do not need it padded with other activities; people with limited time (three hours fits easily into an afternoon without disrupting dinner); groups where some members are less interested in camel riding or Bedouin camp experiences; and anyone who wants to focus on the riding quality rather than a sampler of activities.
The Desert Safari Package
A desert safari package is a longer excursion — typically three to four hours — that combines quad biking with additional desert activities. These typically include: a camel ride (usually 15–20 minutes), a visit to a Bedouin camp with mint tea and shisha, a short horse or donkey riding opportunity, sandboarding on a dune, and sunset watching from a desert camp. The quad biking within a safari package is usually shorter — often 45 minutes to one hour and approximately 20–25 km of riding — and may be on a more limited terrain loop rather than the full 50 km beach-and-desert route. The safari package is the right choice for: families who want variety over depth; first-time Egypt visitors who want to experience multiple aspects of the desert culture in one outing; groups where different members want different things (one person rides quads while another does camels).
Which Should You Choose?
If quad biking is the reason you are booking, choose the standalone beach quad biking tour. The riding time is longer, the terrain is more varied with 50 km of desert plus the beach coastal section, and the three-hour structure gives the ride room to develop — you have time to settle in, find your pace, and actually experience the desert rather than spending forty-five minutes on a loop before moving on to the next activity. If you want a broader introduction to the desert with quad biking as one component, the safari package is the appropriate option. Sun Touristik offers both — they are distinct tours with different pricing, and both are bookable independently.
Is Quad Biking in Hurghada Safe? Age Limits, Equipment & What to Expect
Quad biking in Hurghada is safe when it's run by an operator with small groups, well-maintained machines, and a guide who stays with the group rather than ahead of it. With Sun Touristik, every quad is checked before departure, helmet, goggles, and gloves are mandatory for every rider, and the route uses established desert trails rather than open, uncharted ground.
Age Limits
The minimum age is six. Riders aged six to fifteen go as a passenger on a shared quad with an adult, who keeps full control of the throttle and brakes. From age sixteen, riders can take a quad solo after the pre-ride briefing and a short practice section at the base. There's no upper age limit, though guests with a back, knee, or wrist condition should mention this at booking so the guide can adjust the pace or route.
What to Expect on the Day
A 10–15 minute safety briefing covers controls and hand signals before anyone gets on a quad. Equipment is fitted and checked individually. The ride itself stays guide-led throughout — the group doesn't split up, speeds vary between the open desert stretches and the rockier sections, and the guide sets the overall pace rather than letting riders push ahead unsupervised. The 50 km desert trail is broken up with a mid-route stop, and the final 5-minute beach ride is a relaxed, scenic finish to the main riding portion.
Best Time of Year for Quad Biking in Hurghada
Hurghada's quad biking season runs year-round, but the time of year changes the experience more than most guests expect.
October to April is the most comfortable stretch for riding, with daytime temperatures around 22–28°C and cooler evenings from 16–20°C after sunset. This is also peak tourist season, so sunset departure slots book out faster — allowing two to three days' notice is worth it.
May, June, and September sit in between: warm but manageable, especially if you book an afternoon or sunset slot rather than a midday one.
July and August are the hottest months, with air temperatures regularly above 38°C and a desert surface that holds heat well into the afternoon. A sunset departure (15:30–16:00) is the better option in this period — it avoids the worst of the heat and still gives the full 50 km desert trail and coastal stop in good light.
Winter sunset rides (November to February) get cool quickly once the sun drops, so a light layer for the ride back is worth packing — see the notes below.

Private Group Quad Biking Departure
Book the quad biking tour as a private departure for your couple, family, or group. A private booking means a dedicated departure time chosen to suit your schedule, a guide assigned exclusively to your group, and the flexibility to set pace and stop duration without coordinating around other riders. Private bookings are particularly popular for families with young children who want to set a slower, more exploratory pace, and for couples booking the sunset departure as a standalone experience. Availability is limited on peak-season dates — advance booking required.
FAQs
How much does quad biking in Hurghada cost?
Beach quad biking in Hurghada with Sun Touristik starts from €30 per adult and €15 per child. This includes the guided three-hour ride covering a 50 km desert trail and a 5-minute Red Sea shoreline ride, plus all standard safety equipment (helmet, goggles, and gloves). Hotel pickup and drop-off is included for Hurghada city resorts. For guests staying in El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh, Makadi Bay, Soma Bay, or other areas outside central Hurghada, a transfer surcharge may apply — this will be confirmed at the time of booking. Optional extras such as scarf/shemagh rental (€2.50) and additional safety goggles (€2.50) are available at the quad base. Sunset departure is available at no extra cost. Private group bookings may be priced differently — contact us directly for group rates.
Do I need experience to go quad biking in Hurghada?
No experience is required. Before the ride begins, your guide walks every rider through the quad controls — throttle, braking, steering — and runs a short practice section at the base before the main 50 km desert route starts. The terrain on the Hurghada beach quad biking route is hard-packed desert floor, which is significantly more forgiving for beginners than soft sand or steep gradients. Most guests who have never ridden a quad before are comfortable and confident within the first ten to fifteen minutes. The guide stays with the group throughout — never ahead of the slowest rider.
What is the minimum age for quad biking in Hurghada?
The minimum age is six years old. Children aged six to fifteen ride on a shared quad with an adult — the adult controls the quad and the child rides as a passenger. Riders aged sixteen and above can ride their own quad independently. There is no upper age limit. Riders of all ages must wear the helmet, goggles and gloves provided — no exceptions.
Is sunset quad biking available in Hurghada?
Yes — sunset quad biking is one of the most popular options on the Hurghada beach quad biking tour. The sunset departure leaves at approximately 15:30 to 16:00 depending on the time of year, timing the 50 km desert crossing and the final 5-minute Red Sea shoreline ride to coincide with the last forty minutes of daylight. The Eastern Desert at sunset produces strong colour — the sand and rock shift from beige to orange to deep copper — and the Red Sea surface at golden hour looks noticeably different from the midday departure. Sunset slots fill quickly between October and April. Booking two to three days in advance is recommended for sunset departures.
What is the difference between beach quad biking and a desert safari in Hurghada?
Beach quad biking is a focused three-hour guided ride covering a 50 km desert trail and a 5-minute Red Sea shoreline ride — the entire experience centres on the quad itself, the terrain, the distance, and the route. A desert safari package is longer (typically three to four hours) and combines a shorter quad ride (approx. 20–25 km) with additional activities: camel riding, a Bedouin camp stop, mint tea, and sometimes sandboarding. If quad biking is your primary interest, the standalone beach quad biking tour gives you longer riding distance (50 km), a more varied route including the coastal beach section, and a more complete riding experience. If you want a sampler of desert activities, the safari package is more appropriate.
What should I wear for quad biking in Hurghada?
Wear clothes you are comfortable getting dusty — the desert surface kicks up fine dust and sand, particularly on open stretches at speed. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended: sandals and flip-flops are not suitable. Long trousers are advisable for comfort and sun protection on the 50 km desert section. A light, long-sleeved shirt is useful in summer to protect arms from direct sun. Helmet, goggles and gloves are provided — these cover the head, eyes and hands. Sunscreen should be applied before departure, as the face and neck are exposed throughout the ride.
Is quad biking in Hurghada safe?
Yes — when conducted with a professional, small-group operator using maintained equipment and a qualified guide. Sun Touristik keeps groups small (typically six to twelve riders) so the guide can maintain full visibility of every rider throughout the 50 km desert route. Every quad is checked before each departure. The route uses established trails rather than uncharted desert, and the terrain is selected for its suitability for mixed-experience groups. Safety equipment — helmet, goggles and gloves — is provided and required for all riders without exception. Children ride as passengers with an adult until age sixteen. If you have a medical condition affecting balance, grip strength, or back health, please mention this at booking.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation is available up to 48 hours before the tour departure. If your plans change, please contact us as early as possible to release your slot for other guests.
